Medicare is mailing new cards between April 2018 and April 2019. The new card has a Medicare Number unique to you, instead of your Social Security Number.
Monday, October 15th, CMS announced that they have started mailing new Medicare cards to people with Medicare who live in Wave 7 states and territories including Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, and the Virgin Islands.
CMS finished mailing cards to people with Medicare who live in states within Waves 1-4 and now in Wave 5, as well as nationwide to people who are new to Medicare.
Your new card will have a new Medicare Number that’s unique to you, instead of your Social Security Number. Make sure your mailing address is up-to-date. If your address needs to be corrected, contact Social Security Administration at ssa.gov/myaccount or 1-800-772-1213.
